Supernatural by Wild Anima
Finding the light within ourselves to survive nature's challenges
"Music as medicine" and "nature as medicine" are well established concepts which French-Greek sound artist and performer Alex H. Alexopoulos, aka Wild Anima, combines on her new album Supernatural, by seeking the link between light, plants and our sensuality, and exploring the connection between nature, the body and tenderness, through her folky, ethereal music.
Living in the cold, dark winter of Finland, savouring sauna culture (the proximity to and smell of naked bodies) and surviving the pandemic (isolation, emotional deprivation) has fostered the idea of acknowledging our position in nature, celebrating the warm and positive within ourselves, feeling super-human.
With hints of Enya, spoken-word song, not unlike Jenny Hval and a church-like choral grace (think Julianna Barwick) Alexopoulos takes us on an uplifting and life-affirming journey through gentle electronic music.
