Projections of a Coral City by Coral Morphologic & Nick León
Behold the glory of climate change
Coral Morphologic, an odd pairing comprising marine biologist Colin Foord and musician Jared McKay, make multimedia projects to raise awareness of marine biodiversity (check Coral City Camera). On Projections of a Coral City, they've teamed up with fellow-Miami artist Nick León to explore the idea that, as water levels rise, corals may one day reclaim the city.
Using guitars, synths and a subtle selection of suitably watery samples, the mood is one of slow-motion submergence, glory and wonder.
Released today on Balmat, the label run by Albert Salinas and Philip Sherburne. I particularly like the album artwork, it works so well with the label's visual branding (by Basora).
