We Don't Belong Here EP by AnD
Thumping melodic Techno, what's not to like?
Sixth EP We Don't Belong Here from the British duo AnD (Andrew Bowen and Dimitri Poumplidis) further refines their thumping melodic Techno template. They really know how to thoroughly wallop a bass drum, as demonstrated on tracks like 001 from their AnD001 EP and TRAX 2 from Closing Trax EP. Last year's AnD003 EP indicated clear development in their production with a finer balance of melody alongside the familiar intense kick – Prophecy in particular was a highlight.
This new EP though is a considerable leap forward in terms of overall quality. While the BPM remains high (>140) the pulverising bass drum has been tamed slightly and emotive synth lines introduced. Second track Don't is a prime example of this new dynamic, although all four bangers truly deliver peak time adrenalin. And note: We Don't Belong Here isn't just top-notch DJ material, it's also bona fide headphone listening material.
