Jerky Electro with a birthday suit streak of Braindance at its core
Hardware fiend Andrew Visser, aka Dutch/English artist Oneven, plays to his strengths on new EP Gebarentalen, with five tracks oozing the charming warmth of analogue gear. Squelchy stabs combined with swoozy synth lines and melodies borrowed from the Aphex songbook produce a strange equilibrium of melancholy and desktop head-nodding. Tissue stands out by incorporating a manipulated vocal snippet alongside the skittering rhythms, and teeters on the edge of annoying.
It may not be the most original music you'll hear this month but you'll not fail to be lifted by the retro-euphoria of it all.
