Les Halles - Zephyr

Review

Zephyr by Les Halles

Panpipes and a life-affirming moment of self-realisation

Sampling old tapes of panpipes, cow bells and fujara flutes, French producer Baptiste Martin evokes a sense of serene calm on Zephyr, his fourth album as Les Halles. Like his previous work (mostly limited edition cassette releases, including a double collaboration with fellow countryman Magnétophonique) the music meanders a dusty trail through mystical drone and cosmic escapism. Zone out from the minutiae of life for a short while with a warm evening glow on your face, a light breeze on your skin and a life-affirming moment of self-realisation.
