Second remix album for Jim Coles' Acid Dub workouts
Six Tracks #43, and they're all bangers. Opening salvo Blood Red Sun is the highlight from Sepehr's new album Pomegranate Skies,; gloriously rugged Acid and heavy breathing. From the stonking new EP on Blue Hour Music, src005, we've got high BPMs and a heady whiff of post-Trance in the form of Child Stay Wild from Neri J... it's just so damned good! (The rest of the EP ain't too shabby either.) With tasteful flavours of Dubstep, Seb Zito drops the most massive bassline on Ocean Ghost, taken from his Horns Of 23 EP (it's no doubt been wrecking floors all summer). Jori Hulkkonen steps up with Dyson's Fear to celebrate 25 years of Tiga's Turbo Recordings, part of a 25 track compilation, out later this month. Nadia Struiwigh's new album Birds Of Paradise, on Dekmantel, has surprised me in its energy, inventiveness and overall feel good vibes. Yep, Beavers? is a good example of her more upbeat tracks (balanced by the equally enthralling Ambient and experimental tracks). Don't overlook this one. Finally, from the recent Total 23 compilation, Kompakt's much acclaimed series, you could take your pick from the fifteen tracks and it's it guaranteed to be a banger; they're all so exceptionally good. I particularly love the female vocal on Don’t Cry by Stephan Barnem and Futuristant, that combined with that distinctive Kompakt-style of smooth synths, chunky beats and descending melodies.
