Langt Fra Jorden by øjeRum
Capturing the quiet majesty of nature
Another captivating IIKKI collaboration, this time between award winning Spanish photographer Irene Zottola and prolific Danish musician øjeRumm (aka Paw Grabowski) with Zottola's dreamlike black-and-white imagery embellishing Grabowski's sonorous and cavernous soundscapes.
Langt Fra Jorden may translate as Far From Earth but we're likely off the ground rather than in outer space, as the evocative track titles suggest (e.g. "The Tree Raised Its Hands to Welcome the Silence" and "We hung our harps in the willow trees at the end of the valley"). There's a clarity to the music at first, with a gently plucked harp taking focus. But as we progress through the six phases our attention slowly shifts sideways, the treated sounds becoming increasingly soft-edged, allowing the organic painterly images to conjure shapes while reinforcing the quiet majesty of nature.
