"Trip-Hop—or Something Close to It—Is Making a Comeback - A new generation of artists has rejuvenated the sultry, slow-moving 90s genre, and they’re taking it into decidedly weird new places." - Shaun Reynaldo in his new Second Floor column for Ninaprotocol

Channelling Aidan Moffat (from Arab Strap) the spoken-word recital builds with increasing musicality, incorporating guitar, strings and percussion to great effect. It's the Fisher Price musical instruments that give it the creepy edge though.
I really enjoyed this '90s UK Jazzy Trip-hop mix from Nina Yamada

Who's up for a Trip-Hop revival? Parallel Action's eponymous album has you covered. The opening track in particular is a beauty, with hints of Portishead courtesy of B’licious (the voice of the psychedelic-funk group The Heliocentrics).
