Pelada - Movimiento Para Cambio

Review

Movimiento Para Cambio by Pelada

Ferocious Spanish rapping with rave synths, acid basslines and breakbeats

Spanish rapping with ferocity, backed by rave synths, acid basslines, breakbeats and dembow rhythms. Pelada is Columbian vocalist Chris Vargas and Canadian producer Tobias Rochman, together tackling bold themes of feminism, identity, surveillance and big data. And like the very best 'vocal' electronic releases of late (think: Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy and Lucy) the underlying music is key to its success; without it, Vargas's forceful holler could begin to grate for some, even if the message is worth listening to.
