The Practice of Freedom by Louisahhh
Meaty electronic songs with a teenage Punk heart
The cover art hat tip to Alice Cooper and Kiss serves to remind us that Louisahhh's debut album is intended to be theatrical and enjoyed without reservation, but, like those eighties megastars, the Paris-based US artist is quite sincere.
There's an angry whiff to many of the tracks with chugging guitars, thumping kicks and a punky verbal onslaught. Brimming with girl power and a DIY aesthetic, it's a bold and, at times, raw manifesto to a girl's life in music and love.
