Another selection of the best music on Spotify last month
We open this selection with a few summery tracks to make up for the dismal weather we've been having in Scotland recently.
Tanlines is a pop duo from NY who trade in all the good things associated with cheesy eighties pop. LA Priest continues the summer theme with the lazy, sun-drenched vibes of Oino, such a catchy tune, it'll be in your head all day! A new band to me is Pilocka Krach who have recently released their "Best Of" album. I've chosen Gitarre Spielen which reminds me of Jürgen Paape. A little less summery is Summer Time in Coloniae by Andreas Gehm taken from his recent EP Yes or No, which signals a change in tempo.
In preparation for their upcoming album Neither/Neither, here's Platform Lvl 6 - Crash Mix from The Black Dog. Paul Woolford returns with another two tracker, both amazing tunes, I've selected MDMA with it's circluar piano riff and catchy vocals. Aother new artist to me is florestano who have just released their debut album Noh. I've included the ten minute monster 7 of Diamonds, Pt. 1 & 2. This is followed by Toxic Work Environment, a highlight from Ital's recent EP of the same name (out on Gang of Ducks).
Slowing the pace next we've got a vocal track called Oracles by Black Channels, who clearly owe a debt to Bowery Electric. El_Txef_A continues the vocal pattern with a catchy track featuring Meggy. Finally we end with more summery vibes in the form of Freedom, a strangely familiar sounding track from DJ Marky's new album My Heroes.
