The Fleshmeister™ thunders on with a third album: New Horizon, and it's a proper tempest! Compositionally resembling the anatomy of a storm, we get sucked in, blootered around and spat out, left to contemplate our dazed and winded condition. Opening with the deceptively calm Dub Techno of Different Species, there's a sense of impending doom. The tension rises rapidly, first through the malevolent undertones of Super Human, then BAM!, we're facing the monstrous eye of the storm, the album's centrepiece External Transmission Stage. Thereafter, the torrential effects are laid bare through a series of wrecked Dub Techno motifs, spent rhythms and grisly, Ambient debris. It's a concept that works for me, although many may argue that those track titles tell another story entirely!

In my last review, I wondered where Justin K Broadrick would go after his riveting series of JK Flesh EPs. Well, he's excelled once again with an album that is cohesive, well sequenced and a thoroughly thrilling listen.
