Munma - Three Voices

Review

Three Voices by Munma

Lebanese producer with an album of ambient music and sexy, French, spoken word passages

With a background of training in film and audio/visual studies it follows that the music of Lebanese producer and sound designer Munma, aka Jawad Nawfal, invokes a hazy, filmic vision of foreign backdrops and colourful cultures. This is certainly the case with new album Three Voices where he blends ambient and oriental vibes with spoken word passages (Nawfal commissioned three writers and poets to recite their work, and from there he developed the musical elements). Not understanding the French language seems to accentuate the romantic while the stripped back spooky sounds add mystery.

8/10 after 7 listens
