Doka - KONSTRUKT 004

Review

KONSTRUKT 004 by Doka

Up and coming Dutch producer with a sweet three track EP

Doka is Han Frissen, label owner, DJ and producer of fine Techno. Hailing from Holland, he runs Konstrukt, a small imprint with previous releases from SHLTR, Cassegrain, Sendai, Artefakt and Evigt Mörker. He joins the label roster with KONSTRUKT 004, his new three track EP. Listen to snippets.

Fans of artists like Roman Flügel and Illum Sphere will enjoy this release. With massive swirling melodies, the first two tracks pack an emotive punch; the influence of Aphex Twin coming to the fore. Harmony opens proceedings and does what it says on the tin, proffering a building drum pattern underpinned by an EDM-inspired topline to great accord. The rapport continues with Bloom, which sports a stirring chord progression that proves to be pleasantly predictable yet thoroughly satisfying. Closing track Uncertain moves left with more emphasis on the mood rather than the melody.
