DiNT - Hooker
Mini album of doom-laden Techno, gritty and wrought
Second release from the malevolent producer maintains the dark vibe established on debut EP, The Black Drug (from 2015 on Samurai Horo). Doom metal guitars chug (Hooker) and creepy voices threaten (Shovel) amidst a backdrop of dirt and ingrained noise, which sounds unpalatable but provides the perfect antidote to mass modern classical music consumption. Wrought with tension, ten minute monster Skewer sustains a rugged, addictive Techno groove and could be the highlight.
More than a three track EP though, this neatly packaged set comprises four additional remixes (from Ontal, ANFS, Codex Empire and the mighty Oake) that dismantle the originals, extracting core elements and rearranging them into new vistas, each patterned with the remixer's identifiable traits.
