Blue Hour - The Midnight Sun

Review

The Midnight Sun by Blue Hour

New EP from Luke Standing hints at fresh perspectives

Breaking with the numbered sequence, The Midnight Sun is effectively the eighth EP from Luke Standing as Blue Hour and arrives hot on the heels of his recent collaboration (with A-JX) as Tracing Xircles. Like a signpost, the break suggests Standing has taken a step back for a fresh perspective on his output, and like Gaia's Requiem the music is less aggressively dancefloor focused and therefore much easier on the home listening ear.

Sandwiched between two shimmering Ambient tracks, the tribal beats of Will Never Set and title track The Midnight Sun should satisfy anyone's desire to dance, but it's the more reflective opening and closing cuts that excite me the most and hint at greater things. Album on the way soon perhaps?
