Answer Code Request - Code

Review

Code by Answer Code Request

Beautifully languid selection of tracks on Patrick Graser's debut album

After repeated listens with no standout tracks you might think an album would be mediocre, but that's not the case with Code, the debut album from Patrick Gräser aka Answer Code Request. Across the twelve tracks there's a sense of dormancy, things ticking along very slowly, retaining energy, life bubbling away under the surface, that ties everything together cohesively. Only when there's a distinct contrast between tracks, like the chunkier opening beats of Zenith that follows the serene gloom of Odyssey Sequence does life momentarily make an appearance. Best listened to as a whole, it's a beautiful, contemplative selection of emotive techno music.
