Mariel Ito is back with some new releases and live performances for 2018. Who is Mariel Ito you ask? He's Eric Estornel, aka Maceo Plex. Mainly active in the mid-2000s, before his Maceo Plex productions took off, Estornel made a form of Electro/IDM heavily indebted to Kraftwerk and Drexciya. He released an album and a handful of tracks/EPs on labels like Modern Love and SCSI-AV.
First new release is an EP, out tomorrow, called 2e Komst, on his own Lone Romantic label. And while there's an Electro vibe to both tracks the smooth quality of production is light years ahead of his earlier, punky work. Listen to lead track Sintex49 and purchase here.
If you missed the first incarnation of Mariel Ito, now's your chance to catch up. R&S Records will be releasing a retrospective album (of unreleased tracks) in May called 2000-2005. Listen to Process7 from 2004.
A further EP of new material will follow later in the summer, also on R&S.
Mariel Ito has just been added to the Dekmantel line-up.
