Maceo Plex, Emika, Sabriel's Orb, Adrian Rodd, Benjamin Brunn and Flat Maze
A bunch of new tunes worth hearing
Second chapter of the Mutant Series from Eric Estornel, aka Maceo Plex, who teams up with US duo Paradigm Shift on a melancholic monster called Mutant Pulse. Out via a new off-shoot label of Ellum called Ellum Black, which focuses on the darker side of Techno.
New track called Run from Emika's forthcoming fifth album, Falling In Love With Sadness, due out on 10th October on her own Emika Records imprint.
Willow Sky-Biggs is Sabriel's Orb and her track Secret (from a shared release with John Atkinson) is a gently pulsing passage of electric piano. Release date is 31st August on Whited Sepulchre Records.
Equilibrium, the lead track from new EP Waves by Spanish producer Adrian Rodd, opens with watery samples then splashes out halfway through. Out now via Cochlea Music.
A delightful track from UK producer Benjamin Brunn, lifted from the inaugural raster compilation entitled sichten 1, compiled by label co-founder Frank Bretschneider. Joining Brunn are another five artists: Zavoloka, Mimicof, Retina.it, Pierce Warnecke and Mads Emil Nielsen, comprising 18 tracks in total.
On Jazz-O-Tech Records, Flat Maze, a duo comprising jazz pianist Uri Gincel and music producer Stefano Mori, release Dick Dunker, an EP of Techno shot through with jazzy piano. Lovely stuff.
