Benjamin Finger - Scale of Blindness

Review

Scale of Blindness by Benjamin Finger

Eleventh album from the Norwegian composer and producer

Benjamin Finger makes films as well as music – you can hear the cinematic overtures and sense of narrative in his compositions. Plying his trade since 2009, Scale of Blindness is the 11th album from the Norwegian producer and demonstrates an experienced hand at the controls. Experimental by nature, the music is fashioned from a variety of interesting sounds and field recordings, including the voice of Lynn Fister, with Finger playing all instruments himself. Across the eight tracks there's a counterbalance of edgy styles that jostle for attention, be that the blistering guitar on Fragrant Darkness, the filmic vibe of opener Halogen Flux, the strange sense of solitude on Earview Map or the drawn out majesty of monumental closing track Vanishing Faces. All in, there's a lot to like here.
